Covert Hypnosis ... |
| |
|
Covert hypnosis has been used by various people throughout history. Although it certainly wasn't called by that name (and even now, it has other synonyms), the fundamental principles haven't really changed much. It's been used by great leaders in the past to negotiate treaties with other people and even to inspire tribes or nations to go to war. In Ancient Greece and Rome, it was even studied as a field in philosophy and was mainly used as a pattern for dialogues such as debates, speeches, and negotiations. |

Definition
Also known as conversational hypnotism, it is basically a form of communication that is used by one person in order to influence the thoughts and emotions of another person. It utilizes many hypnosis techniques such as changing the other person's mind through a pattern of dialogue that's based on combinations of rapport, distraction, etc. When using this kind of hypnotic communication, the end result is usually favorable to the person who has more wit and cunning. In short, conversational hypnosis is a dialogue pattern that you use in order to change another person's opinion.

How It Basically Works
Conversational hypnosis basically works through the initial process of building rapport at the start of the dialogue (or the part of a dialogue that focuses on a particular subject). By building rapport, a person (or a hypnotist or psychologist) is able to establish a certain mutual understanding with another person. Covert hypnosis is reliant on this first crucial step in order to gain some form of trust. After a form of affinity has been established, a counteractive idea is proposed in the form of a distraction. This is usually in the form of a hypothetical idea that has the basic purpose of dismantling an opposing idea, after which, a solution is apparently evident after the hypothetical idea has been brought forth. However, there are times when rapport is replaced or sometimes even mixed with other elements such as irony or even drollness.
Sleight of Mouth
Sleight of mouth is basically the most commonly used pattern for most people who use conversational hypnosis in dialogues. Sleight of mouth utilizes many forms of reasoning and it's also used alongside various hypnosis techniques practiced by psychologists in order to treat patients with mental problems such as phobias. It has the basic aim of dismantling the logic of a particular idea in order to establish a new one. Below are basic examples of dialogues that end in a sleight of mouth twist.
Mike: Public toilets should be banned because there're lots of germs in there.
Dr. Thomas: There're lots of germs in restaurants too, you know. Should they be banned too?
Charles: People say that reading guitar tabs make a musician lazy.
Jack: You always believe what other people say?
Frank: Hey, kid. Can you help carry these bags into the house?
Jacob: Dad said not to talk to strangers.
Frank: Don't talk then. Just get these bags into the house.
Covert hypnosis is pretty much like a magic trick wherein you distract/dismantle other people's opinions so you can replace them with your own. There are other forms of this kind of hypnosis, but the ones mentioned here are the most basic. |

Hypnosis Techniques... |
| |
|
Hypnosis is where an individual is put into an induced state of mind and body. Your body will go into a very relaxed state almost sleep like. Your mind however goes into a highly suggestible state of mind. The individual undergoing this will have certain perceptions of his or her altered to meet a specific goal or purpose. This is all from the use of certain hypnosis techniques. It is something like a trance but not a legitimate one. |

Hypnosis has been used since ancient times in many various cultures around the world. It has been used for medicinal purposes, religious rites, ceremonies, and mediator practices. Moreover, today's world is experiencing a reawakening so to speak in Hypnosis techniques and uses for it. Hypnosis is a hotly debated topic amongst physicians and others. Many will say it is a legitimate method in helping people with certain health and mental issues. Others will say that it is an over exaggerated practice highly dependent on the person suggestibility and willingness to participate in the use of hypnosis techniques. You can either go to a trained hypnotist who specializes in said hypnosis techniques or you can practice self-hypnosis. This is where the person attempts to hypnotize themselves to meet a specific goal or for some other specific purpose.
Many uses for Hypnosis techniques have developed over the years. For instance, many people have used this method to quit smoking. Hypnotherapists, psychologists and even some doctors have prescribed this method to patients with some success. In fact some doctors have used it to treat Irritable bowel syndrome (also known as IBM) by have the patient hypnotized into being more calm and relaxed so that their condition of IBM lessens in its severity and possibly even stopping it. Even some physiologist have tried using it help certain mental patients with severe mental disorders. Others have used it as a Stress management technique helping them be more of a calm and relaxed person. Many women and men in today's world say that using hypnosis techniques to lose weight has worked for them. Change their perceptions and motivations to accomplish this goal.
One of the most uses for hypnosis is in managing and dealing with pain. Many people around the country and the world suffer from constant pain cause by anything from illness to injuries. It is said to be a great way to lessen a person pain making it easier to deal with everyday life. This has been an alternative to certain drugs and medications for relieving pain.
Another hypnosis technique is called Cover Hypnosis. This is when a person or persons will try to very subtly communicate with another individual's subconscious mind without that individual's knowledge or permission. This is done by suggestive conversation, facial expression and certain body language. Covert hypnosis can also be referred to as conversational hypnosis since most Covert hypnosis techniques are done in conversation form. An example of this would be that many sales men try to apply this method by suggestion. They will tell you things like how good you will feel after purchasing their product or by use of certain facial expression showing you their approval or disapproval.
There are many hypnosis techniques out there and the subject is much debated. Many people have reported good success with these methods. You should judge for yourself if you have cause and desire to undergo hypnosis.
